As I sit here, reflecting on the past 18 months of running Gml Gallery, my heart is filled with gratitude for the incredible woman who has been my constant source of love and support: my mother.
Growing up, my mother's own dreams were put on hold as she selflessly devoted herself to supporting her family. Despite her own sacrifices, she never let that hold her back from encouraging and nurturing my own dreams. It was a quiet support that she offered, one that I took for granted as a child, but now realize was a precious gift that shaped who I am today.
I can still vividly recall one of those precious moments from my childhood, where my mother proudly showed off a pencil sketch I had done to others, an act that was uncommon for women of her generation. In that moment, I felt seen and valued. It was a simple gesture, but it planted a seed of creativity within me that has never faded away.
As I embarked on my own career path, I strayed away from the creative industry, but the seed that my mother had planted within me continued to grow. And when the time was right, it blossomed into the birth of Gml Gallery. It was a leap of faith that I never would have had the courage to take without the unwavering support of my mother.
As I celebrate the incredible woman who has been my rock this Mother's Day, I am reminded of the countless other mothers out there who selflessly give of themselves to support and nurture their children's dreams. Their love and support is the foundation on which we build our lives, and without them, we wouldn't be where we are today.
